Essentials of Fashion, Apparel &Â Interior Design
Essentials of FAID is highly recommended as the first course to introduce students to the design industry. Concepts covered will include elements and principles of design, textiles and an exploration of career opportunities.  Students create a portfolio as well as other projects throughout the semester.
Fashion Trends I
Fashion Trends I provides students an opportunity to explore fashion and color trends in fashion design and their effectiveness within professional presentations. Other topics include fashion history, garment styles, illustration and fashion show production.
Fashion Trends II
Fashion Trends II is a course that centers upon the marketing of design products. Topics include visual merchandising, inspiration, fashion history, wardrobe planning, accessories, illustrating flats, entrepreneurship and fashion show production. Students have the opportunity to create a variety of projects focusing on course content.
Family Studies
Family Studies covers a variety of concepts including families, human reproduction, pregnancy, childbirth, infant and toddler development, parenting styles and childcare career options. Students have the opportunity to wear the pregnancy empathy belly and to participate in the Real Care Baby newborn simulation.

About Mrs. Stephens
Mrs. Stephens has taught at Olathe South High School for 13 years. She enjoys teaching Essentials of FAID, Fashion Trends I/II and Family Studies. Currently, she is the advisor for the student organization FCCLA. Come to room 201 and ask how you can get involved!
